About Best Match-Ups

Every player in the database is classified by batting hand (right or left) and, if they bowl, by bowling archetype — right or left arm, combined with pace, finger spin or wrist spin.

This page takes the player you select, reads their classification, and then ranks other players by how well they have performed against that type across their whole career — not just in the competition and seasons you picked. Those filters only decide which players are eligible to appear in the list.

The head-to-head columns show how each listed player has fared against your selected player specifically. They are shown for context only; the ranking is always on the career-versus-type record, which is a far larger sample. A dash means the two have never met, or that the metric has no denominator (for example, balls per six when no six has been hit).

A player must have at least 30 balls against the type to qualify, so one good over can't top the table.

The batting hand column shows each listed player's own classification, so you can see at a glance whether the strongest match-ups cluster around one kind of player.
